In 1934 Borge Mogensen started his career as a cabinet maker. In 1936 Borge Mogensen went to study at the Copenhagen School of the Arts and Crafts under Professor Kaare Klint before entering the Royal Academy of Fine Arts where he would later graduate as an architect in 1942. While he was attending Copenhagen School of the Arts and Crafts the young Borge Mogensen a close relationship with Kaare Klint, his mentor. He learned to appreciate Klint's approach to simple and functional furniture design.
The word which best describes Borge Mogensen's design is functional. The majority of his furniture was designed with industrial production in mind.
Before establishing his own design office in 1950 he was head of design at FDB (the Danish co-op) in 1942.
RWA Office Design Solutions currently only carries one of Borge Mogensen's pieces, the Easy Chair, however we plan to add additional classics by the world famous designer.
